What I've been working on

I've been working on this zig-zag quilt this week, and it's ready to be assembled finally! I used this tutorial from Amanda Jean, and it's going pretty quickly so far. I think I need to get some white batting for this one. I've been using Warm and Natural, but it seems like most of you use white batting when there is white sashing, so I guess the natural might show through? I hope to have this finished before we go to the beach in two weeks so that the baby can use it to play on the floor of the condo!

I've also been cutting for the robot quilt for my other son. I couldn't help but sew one block together last night. It's the Simple Modern Baby Quilt from Oh, Fransson. I think I'm really going to like it!

  2. Definitely go with the white batting. It really does make a difference in the brightness if you have white fabric in the top.
    Great colours.

  4. Hi Amy,

I saw that you're following my blog and I think you commented on my Late Fall Double Irish Chain quilt (thanks for the nice comment, too!)

So I've come to check out your blog, yay! I just started, but wanted to say that I've also tried AmandaJean's tutorial for the zig zag (I blogged about it here: http://cuttingedgequilt.blogspot.com/2009/05/pink-quilt-1st-border-and-some.html). I just did a baby quilt, and because I didn't use the same colour for every second strip, it was a bit trickier, but it still worked out beautifully (I just put the first border around it last night).

    Cheers,
    Christine
